Obituary

Bernadette (Bernie) Baggerly was called home to God on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
Bernie was born in British Guiana on March 30, 1920 to John and Eva (Tranquada) DaSilva, the second of four children.  Bernie volunteered to serve in the British Women's Army Corp in Canada during World War II.  After the war, she moved to Texas to join her sister, Helen, who had married a Texan, Milton Clark, who was stationed in British Guiana during the war.  Bernie became a United States citizen and met and married Albert (Buddy) Baggerly, (deceased).  They had two children, David and Thomas.  As a single parent, Bernie devoted herself to her children , grandchildren and her church .
Since 1966 she was an active member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Corpus Christi.  She worked for and retired from Celanese Corporation.  Never one to sit idle, she worked several jobs until she was 87.
Bernie is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John; sisters, Bridgette and Helen; and grandson, Kevin.  She is survived by her sons, David (Joyce) and Thomas (Delia); six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Bernie was a special lady who always thought of others first.  She lived her life as an example of her faith and was an inspiration to all who knew her.  She will always be in our hearts.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
