Beatriz Cardenas Santoyo

With deep sadness the Santoyo Family announces the passing of our beloved mother, Beatriz "Chatita" Santoyo. She left to her heavenly home on April 19, 2022, at the age of 96 years old.

Beatriz Noemi Cardenas Santoyo was born on December 31, 1925, in Merida, Yucatan to Mexican State Representative Aldolfo Cardenas Delgado and Maria Leopoldina Pinzon de Cardenas who, along with three siblings, precede her in death.

She lived all her childhood years in Yucatan and later moved to Mexico D.F. for her teenage years. There she earned her three degrees as a teacher, bilingual audio-typing secretary, and a dressmaker.

She briefly moved to Houston, Texas and worked as a dressmaker. Later she moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked as a governess for a lawyer's family. Longing to be back home with her family she decided to move back to Mexico where she met her husband Sergio Santoyo Lomelin, a dedicated engineer.

They had 5 children and she dedicated herself to be an excellent housewife and mother. She participated in and attended all their school functions and activities. Her interests included: sports, mathematics, spelling, shorthand, music, dance, and poetry. She was a strong woman and worked hard to have a happy and well structured home.

She retired from J.C.Penny after 19 years of employment. Being a strong faith based woman, she loved and devoted herself to God and was always an active church member. She honored her Heavenly Father by visiting the elderly and sick at their homes, hospitals, and nursing homes. She shared the love of God with whomever she encountered, and always did acts of goodwill towards others.

She lived a long life full of good health and love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She leaves a legacy of integrity and love for God and fellow brethren.

Beatriz leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Sergio J. & Ana Santoyo, Beatriz Gutierrez, Elizabeth Santoyo, Ivan Santoyo, Miguel & Norma Santoyo; sister Guadalupe Gomez Cardenas; grandchildren, Vivian & Harry Rowser, Lorraine & Marco Lara, Erica & Eric Watkins, Nathanniel Torres, Miguel & Ana Santoyo, Sergio & Ana Santoyo, Norma Santoyo, Rebekah Santoyo, Dorian & Carla Gutierrez, Bryan & Roxanne Gutierrez, Daniel & Ashley Gutierrez, Valerie Estrada, Eric & Gabriella Santoyo, Michael & Maria Santoyo;  24 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for her on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Corpus Christi Worship Centre located on 5732 Kimbrough Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78411. Doors open at 10:00 am, service starts at 11:00 am. Flowers and memorial contributions can be sent to the church with notation for "Beatriz Santoyo Family".
