Obituary

On Thursday, October 31st, 2024, Barbara Ann Martinez (nee Ramirez) was called home by the Lord. She passed away in her sleep in her home in Corpus Christi, TX, surrounded by her sons. She was born on Saturday, December 15th, 1973 in Corpus Christi, TX. She was 50 years old at the time of her passing.

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, and temporarily in Houston, Barbara graduated from Roy Miller High School, a part of the Class of '92. Shortly afterward, she married Raul Martinez, they were together for 21 years. They moved to Dallas in '98, where she had her sons, Adrian in 1999, and Adam in 2008. She spent time as an accountant, stay at home mom, and eventually a school cafeteria worker. Barbara moved back to Corpus Christi in 2012 with Adam, where she became a school cafeteria manager and eventually a caregiver for the elderly. Throughout her life Barbara battled Type 2 Diabetes. In 2021, she developed Diabetic Retinopathy (Blindness) and Chronic Kidney Disease, starting Dialysis in 2022. Her sons became her full-time caregivers and were with her every step of the way until the very end. Raised Roman Catholic, she became a devout Baptist and was baptized at Vista Ridge Church in 2007, she loved God and spewed the teachings of Christ, through any way she could. She enjoyed spending time with her boys, hanging out with friends and family, cooking, traveling, shopping, and talking about the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her birth mother, Margarita Narvaez and her father Joe Ramirez.

She is survived by her sons, Adrian Martinez, and Adam Martinez; adoptive mother Sylvia Ramirez; sisters Veronica Ramirez, Jessica Deloy, Melissa Canales, and Ashley Charles, along with 2 nieces, and 3 nephews.

A Memorial gathering will be held at Guardian Funeral Home on Thursday, November 14th from 11-2pm. The actual service will begin at 1pm.
