Aurora R. Garcia, age 72, a long-time resident of Corpus Christi, TX passed away on Thursday June 22, 2017. She was finally relieved of her suffering due to a long-time ailment. You will be comforted to know she did not pass alone, she was accompanied by a room full of loved ones who cared for her during her illness and comforted her while she passed. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and acquaintances. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and friend, as well as a "strong caring elegant lady."
Aurora was born on July 26, 1944 in Kingsville, Texas to Bernade and Carmen Rodriguez. She was the youngest of six children. Two brothers; Bernade Rodriguez and Reynaldo Rodriguez and three sisters; Amelia Perez, Gloria Nivens, and Carmen Trevino.
She shared many close relationships throughout her life but one that stood out was the close relationship she shared with her Aunt Cruz (Crucita) Hayes which she spent a great deal of her early childhood years with.
Her greatest joys were dancing, gardening and spending time with loved ones, which she did up to the very end….
Most people who knew her, remember her as comical and fun to be around. She also loved to travel with her devoted husband Manuel around the US and abroad. She was always up for a great time and great company.
Aurora worked 15 years as an aircraft electrician for the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD). She took pride in her work and strived for nothing less than perfection knowing that her work would affect the serving US military personnel.
Aurora was preceded in death by her parents Bernade and Carmen Rodriguez, her older sister Amelia Perez and step-daughter Ida Marie Garza.
Aurora is survived by: her loving husband of 30 years Manuel Garcia III; 4 brothers and sisters: Bernade (Mary) Rodriguez, Reynaldo (Mary) Rodriguez, Gloria Nivens, and Carmen Trevino; 8 brothers and sisters in-law: Richard Garcia, Rose Kappmyer, George (Gloria) Garcia, Annie (Raul) Castro, Bobby Jo (Dina) Garcia, John (Sandra) Garcia, Janie (Trent) Penny, James (Angela) Garcia; 5 children: Frank Natividad, Cinthia Natividad, David (Annie) Natividad, Debra (Michael) Baker, Laura (Rick) Karnes; 5 step-children: Augustine "Mickey" (Nellie) Garcia, Andrew (Teresa) Garcia, Benita "Bea" (Joe) Ward, Eva (Neil) Meyer; 27 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank her devoted caregivers, Veronica Lopez and Delia Medina as well as the dedicated staff at Nurses on Wheels Hospice. Public visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Guardian funeral home chapel "A" with a Service to be held at 5:00 p.m.
