Augustine "Mickie" Miguel Garcia passed away on January 6, 2025 at the age of 63. Augustine was born on September 8, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mickie was the beloved son of Manuel Garcia III and Guadalupe M. Menchaca.
Mickie was a man of love and enormous commitment to his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He spent his life creating a home filled with love and laughter. His kindness, humor, and dedication left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
For 34 years, Mickie worked at Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD), where his hard work and dedication earned him his title as an Aircraft Mechanic Leader for the Directorate of Aircraft Production. He retired in December 2022, looking forward to spending more time with his family. Mickie was also a talented Craftsman; he had an incredible willingness to build and a determination to help others. His projects came from the heart, as he found joy in gifting his woodworks to those he loved.
Mickie shared a beautiful and enduring love story with his late wife, Natalia "Nellie" Resendez Garcia, his soul mate of 43 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories that will inspire generations to come. Their bonds, which began as junior high sweethearts, was a testament to their enduring connection.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Guadalupe M. Menchaca and his sister, Ida Garza.
Mickie leaves behind his children, Alex (Grace) Garcia, Amy (Eric) Olivarez; his treasured grandchildren, Angel, Anthony, John, Sean, Augustine "A.J.", Isaac, and Isreal – who will continue to carry his love and wisdom.
He is survived by one brother, Andrew (Teresa) Garcia; two sisters, Benita (Joe)Ward, and Eva (Neil) Meyer; extended family, and a multitude of friends who loved and admired him.
Mickie was an exceptional father and grandfather, always present and deeply devoted to his family. His warm smile, generous spirit, and tireless efforts to create a happy home will forever be remembered. Mickie's memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all who were fortunate to know him. He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 13th at Guardian Funeral Home from 4-8pm with a Prayer Vigil to be held at 6:30pm . Visitation will continue Tuesday, January 14th at 8am and we will be departing from Guardian at 11am to go to SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church for a Funeral Mass at 11:30am . Burial will be at Memory Gardens at 1pm . There will be a reception following the burial at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in the Kasper Hall.
