Pena, Sr.
September 28, 1947 – November 22, 2021
Arturo T. Pena, Sr. was called to be with our Lord and Savior on November 22, 2021 at the age of 74. He was born on the 28th day of September 1947 in Corpus Christi, TX. He was a devoted Father who loved his children dearly; he was a grandfather and great-grandfather as well. He was an uncle to several nieces and nephews.
He served proudly in the United States Armed forces and was an Army Vietnam Veteran in the 4th infantry division and recipient of the Purple Heart. He devoted his life to helping others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a great man and alway stood by what he believed in. During his younger years he enjoyed coaching baseball, was an avid weightlifter and was always helping to train others who asked. He retired from the oil and gas industry after many years of service with Southwestern Refinery A Kerr McGee Corporation.
He enjoyed going to the movies very much, He could not go without his diet coke and popcorn no matter the event. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Carroll Tigers, He was a graduate of the class of 1966 from Mary Carroll High School, He enjoyed music and was happy to try out his singing voice. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends alike, may God rest his soul.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. Jesus R. Pena and Mrs. Genoveva T. Pena, Sisters Amelia Lucio and Janie Mota; Brothers Eliazar Pena and Eduardo T. Pena; and his son Jesus Manuel Pena.
Arturo T. Pena is survived by his daughter, Sonya D. Cerda; son, Arturo (Cynthia) Pena, Jr.; sister, Aurora Torres; grandchildren, (3 children of Jesus Manuel Pena) Jesus Manuel Pena jr., Sabrina Pena and Alexis Pena, 2 grandchildren (2 children of Sonya D. Cerda) Denise Cerda and Destiny Jasmine Cerda, and 3 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
All funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021
Family Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m.; Public Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:00 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church , 3502 Saratoga Blvd., with the Burial to follow in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery , 9974 I-37 Acc. Rd., Full Military Honors will be rendered at the cemetery.
