Arnold Sosa, 69, completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 after a short illness. He was born on January 21, 1949 in Corpus Christi and was a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian R. Sosa, Sr. and Mary G. Sosa and one brother, Adrian R. Sosa Jr.
Arnold leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Jeannette Jones Sosa, his brothers, Alfredo Blackie Sosa (Jeannie), Arthur N. Sosa (Cecilia) and his sister, Norma J. Sosa. Nieces and nephews: Denise S. Villagran (Urban), Debra Leal, Dustin Sosa (Irma), Jacqueline Mandel (Brian), Jennifer Ochoa, DDS (Mario), Andy Garcia (Brittany) and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
He retired from Citgo/Champlin after 37 years in various positions and completed his career retiring as a Training Coordinator. He was a very active dedicated volunteer for Special Olympics for the last 20 years. He served as a Competition Director for Spring games, Games Director for South Texas Region 2, Volunteer Coordinator for 3 years, served on the State Committee for South Texas Special Olympics and a was a key volunteer at the Fall Classic events at College Station. Special Olympics and those that he worked with held a special place in his heart.
Arnold enjoyed attending and watching sporting events. Among his favorite athletic teams were the San Antonio Spurs, University of Texas Longhorns, Houston Astros and the Dallas Cowboys. Arnold and Jeannette enjoyed traveling to Europe, England and Scotland. He was cherished by his family and loved by all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be Ron Gamez, Robin Gamez, Marco Perez, Matthew Leal, Brian Mandel and Matthew Sanchez.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Guardian Funeral Home chapel B with a Holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5620 Gollihar Rd. with Fr. Paul Hesse officiating and interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
