IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Aracelia Martinez
Resendez
January 14, 1938 – May 17, 2020
Mrs. Aracelia Martinez Resendez went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2020 at the age of 82.
She joins now in heaven, her husband, Mr. Rogelio Resendez who passed on July 14, 2019.
On July 30, 1956 two hearts would become one, as Rogelio and Aracelia would join in the bond of marriage. From this union, they would bring to life four beautiful daughters, forging a lifetime of memories filled with laughter and love.
It is nearly impossible to express all of the wonderful memories which Aracelia blessed us with or to try and capture, in only a few words, what a great mom she was.
When it came to the home, she truly ran a tight ship, every nook and cranny was precisely kept clean and organized; this place was her sanctuary. She always ensured that her daughters were well dressed and put together. We are truly convinced that she invented the use of "the chancla" to enforce her authority. By the time the girls were grown up, she had perfected her swing!
She was a bold woman who knew exactly what she wanted and also the hard work it took to get it. In return she raised her daughters to have a strong work ethic, to be independent but also caring, to never expect a handout and to always put family first. As a devoted member of the Catholic faith, she taught her children to always trust in God's will and His plan.
Never was it known for her family to dine out, she made certain that a delicious meal was prepared for every occasion. Some of her favorite things to cook were enchiladas, rice, award winning beans, and we must not forget her tortillas!
Aracelia was a woman of many talents. She found great happiness in gardening; many would say she had the ultimate "green thumb", she could make just about anything grow! Countless withered plants were brought to her by the family, all of which are still flourishing in her back yard today. She had a love for all kinds of birds; like parakeets, doves, cardinals, even chickens; numerous hours of her day were dedicated to caring for these beautiful animals.
She had a devine knack for sewing. As a seamstress many of her daughters' childhood outfits were handcrafted by herself. If she could have made every piece of clothing they wore, she would have.
After all of the day's hard work, she enjoyed relaxing on the sofa with her beloved fur-baby Jasmine, while watching her telenovelas. She truly leaves behind a legacy that is unmatched; it is hard to say that she is gone because her memory will live in our hearts for generations to come.
Aracelia is survived by her daughters: Patricia Resendez, Natalia (Augustine) Garcia, Sandra Garcia, and Dennise Gilreath; grandchildren: Patrick, Laura, Alex, Joshua, Amy, Jake, Jordayn, Luke; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousin whom she adored.
Public visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Guardian Funeral Home with a Catholic Chapel service to be held at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens cemetery 8200 Old Brownsville Rd
Due to the precautions still in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19; please refrain from any physical contact including shaking hands, hugging, etc. and we request that those who enter the chapel be wearing a face mask.
