Obituary

A.R. "Al" Alcalà, 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas was granted his wings on July 24, 2020.

Al was born on April 15, 1931 in San Diego, Texas to Benito and Pascuala (Ramirez) Alcalà. In 1944 the family moved from San Diego, Texas to Corpus Christi, Texas where he grew up.

Al volunteered and served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He attended Laredo Jr. College, Del Mar College and The University of Houston. Al met and married the love of his life, Rita Ayala Alcalà on April 18, 1959. Al worked most of his life in the food service industry, as a driver, office manager and outside salesman until he retired. Al and Rita along with their beloved children, Alfred, Veronica, Daniel, and Debra spent summers traveling the U.S. and Mexico. Al loved to go camping, watch the Dallas Cowboys and supporting his grandchildren.

Al is survived by his wife of 61 years Rita Alcalà, 2 sons and their spouses, Alfred and Julie Alcalà, Daniel and Tammy Alcalà; 2 daughters and their spouses, Veronica and JoeEd Suarez, Debra and Joe Jasso; 8 grandchildren, Josh, Alyssa, Tiffany, Amanda, Daniel, Richard, Seiji, and Anna; 1great grandchild Ryleigh and numerous nieces and nephews.

Al is preceded in death by his parents Benito and Pascuala Alcalà, six brothers, Enrique, Juan, Viviano, Santiago, Guadalupe and Jose Coronado and one sister Anita Martinez.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Guardian Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas with the Holy Rosary and Chapel Service to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. followed by Full Military Honors outside the funeral home.

Burial to follow in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m.
