Annie Marie Cortez, 59, went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2015. She was born on June 8, 1955 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Was a beloved mother and wife. Annie is preceded in death by her Father Francisco Ortiz. Annie leaves behind her loving husband, Daniel Cortez, two daughters, Carrie Cortez and Clarissa (Jason) Miller and two grandsons, Justin Miller and Jared Miller, Her mother Mickey-Macaria Gonzales Ortiz
4 brothers: Ramon (wife Lupe) Ortiz, Francisco (wife Linda) Ortiz Jr. , Jesus ( wife Virgina) Ortiz, and Robert Ortiz. She spent as much time as she could with her grandsons. She was outgoing, vibrant and was loved by everyone. Annie loved riding with her husband Daniel on their Harley and was a supporter of the Leathernecks motorcycle club. Annie worked at the H.E.B. Plus on Saratoga for 9 years as the Healthy Living Manager. She loved her work and her Healthy Living customers. A special thanks to all her medical professionals that took care of her while fighting cancer and all the medical conditions it brought. She will be missed by all. May she rest in peace. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Guardian funeral home chapel A with a Holy Rosary and celebration of Annie's life to begin at 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church, 5830 Williams Dr. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery, 9974 IH 37 access Rd.
