Anna "Irene" Crowson, 84, of Robstown, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024 in Robstown, Texas. She was born on October 18, 1939, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Robert William Tackett and Anna Laura (Shaw) Tackett.

Irene graduated from Miller High School in the Corpus Christi District of Corpus Christi, Texas in 1957.

Irene met Hubert Don Townsend and they married in 1958, in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Their children, Dennis, Randy, and Trave' were her pride and joy as well as their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Hubert loved her immensely until the day he passed away.

Irene married Charles Lynn Crowson in 2007.  They were married for 10 years before his passing in 2017.

Irene held professional positions as a secretary to a middle school counselor at Driscoll Middle School and served as a Walmart Associate in her later years.  She also did all of the bookkeeping for Hubert's businesses over the years, but nothing compared to her role as a grandmother to her four grandchildren.  When her first grandchild was born Irene quit her job at the school and dedicated her life to raising her four grandchildren.  She could often be found digging in the dirt, running through the sprinklers in the yard, playing pretend, or reading an enormous pile of books to her grandchildren.

Outside of her professional life, Irene found joy in attending Riverside Church of Christ, Arlington Heights Church of Christ, and Weber Road Church of Christ. Her faith was an integral part of her life.  She frequently kept a hymnal in the car and would lead her family in songs on long road trips.

Irene was passionate about gardening.  She loved to grow different fruits and vegetables and share them with family and her fellow attendees at church. She also loved to crochet and was often working on her next project.  Her family meant everything to her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Charles Crowson, her mother Anna Laura Shaw Tackett, her father Robert William Tackett, and her former spouse and father of her 3 children, Hubert Don Townsend.

Irene is survived by her children Dennis Don Townsend, Robert Randall "Randy" Townsend, and  DeAnna Trave' Townsend Mott (Ander) her grandchildren Kristin Maxwell (Bill), Kara Townsend (Jay), Michael Brandon Crawford (Robin), and Mitchell Bryce Crawford, as well as her great-grandchildren: Jaquelyn Trave' Maxwell, Kyle Brayden Stokes, Mia Denice Reynolds, John Carter Maxwell, Jayme Lauren Kruithof, Taylor Jewel Collier, Addison Grace Crawford, Clark Michael Thomas Crawford, Emory Pearl Crawford, and Cole Bradley Crawford.

Irene will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
