Anita Arlene Cowan of Corpus Christi Texas, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024. Anita was born January 25,1944 in Artesia, New Mexico to William (Bill) Peterson and Maureen Vickrey- Peterson.

Her parents moved to Monahans when she was young. She attended Monahans High School where she graduated May 25,1962. She then went on to get her license in cosmetology. She was blessed to raise three sons and one daughter. Her children and grandchildren will remember her as kind and gentle soul.

She was a devoted Christian and mother. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, dancing, doing arts and crafts and had a green thumb. She loved country music, but especially loved Elvis. She enjoyed watching her three boys play football and watching her daughter in band during the halftime show. She enjoyed spending time with her life-long friend, the late Carol Chesteen-Hunt.

She spent her last years at the Palms Nursing Home in Corpus Christi. There she attended church and participated in singing, arts and crafts and playing bingo. She is survived by her sons Daniel (Adrienne) Cowan, James (Ronda) Cowan, Michael (Aesha) Cowan and Daughter Theresa (Neal) Crisp, her grandchildren Tyler Allen, Danny Joseph Cowan, Emily Cowan, Lori Cowan, Ireland Cowan, Eisley Cowan, Maisey Cowan, her great granddaughter Bryilee Allen.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bert Peterson, Son Larry, grandsons, James P. Cowan and Austin Allen. Anita's celebration of life and interment will be held sometime in September at the Clifton Cemetery in Clifton Texas.
