IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Angelita Gonzalez
Chavez
February 19, 1965 – August 23, 2025
Angelita Chavez, age 60, passed away on August 23, 2025. She was born on February 19, 1965, to Jose and Oralia Gonzalez in Mercedes, Texas, and was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. She graduated from Bishop High School in 1983, where she was a proud member of the band and earned All-State Band honors.
Angie married the love of her life, Rojelio Rene Chavez Sr., on September 29, 1984, and they shared 41 wonderful years together. She managed the family's business, Bridal Boutique & After Five, where she poured her heart into helping countless brides and families create special memories.
Angie was known for her playful spirit, her radiant smile, and her deep love for her family. She adored her sons and was endlessly proud of them. She loved her extended family, especially her many nieces and nephews, and she had a way of making everyone feel special and cared for. Her heart was generous, her laughter was contagious, and her kindness touched everyone who knew her.
She loved sewing and creating beautiful projects, from intricate gowns for weddings and quinceañeras to costumes for herself, family, and friends. Her love of color — especially purple — showed in everything she made. Angie had a passion for late-night, B-rate sci-fi movies, staying up far too late, and sleeping in the next morning. She loved going to the movies, eating popcorn and chips with cheese, and shopping for gifts she knew would make her loved ones smile.
Angie found joy in nature walks, dipping her toes in the water, floating the river, riding her bike, and spending time surrounded by the people and pets she loved most. She rescued and cared for many dogs, each one holding a special place in her heart. She is forever loved by her dogs Maggie, Rosie, Shadow, Maxine, Tyson, Shorty, and Loki, and she joins her beloved Mars, Jupiter, Rex, Simba, Sparky 1, and Sparky 2 in heaven.
Angie had a gift for helping others. She saved the day for more than one bride, always ready with a solution and a smile, reminding everyone, "Don't worry, we'll figure it out." Her presence was a comfort; her laughter and love were an anchor for her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years, Rojelio (Roger) Rene Chavez Sr.; her sons, Rojelio Rene Chavez Jr. (Jolynn Dee), Ross Patrick Chavez (Leigh McPherson), and Rory Rylan Chavez (Grecia Arely Lopez); and her granddaughter, Mia Sage McPherson.
She is also survived by her parents, Jose G. Gonzalez Sr. and Oralia H. Gonzalez; her brother, Jose Gonzalez Jr.; her sister, Joann Gonzalez-Baladeras (Ruben Valdez Villa); and her brother, Leroy Gonzalez (Diana Gonzalez).
Her extended Chavez family will also cherish Angie's memory: Roberto and Maria (deceased) Chavez; Ramiro and Janie (deceased) Chavez; Rosalinda and Alejandro (deceased) Lopez; Mary Del and Roland (deceased) Chavez; Jesus and Rachel (deceased) Amezquita; Reynaldo and Gracie Chavez; Rosalva and Juan Cardenas; Raul and Trinidad Chavez (both deceased); Rodolfo and Teresa Chavez (both deceased); Reyna and Daniel Reyes (both deceased); Ruby and Juan Torres (both deceased); and Rosario Chavez (deceased).
She leaves behind a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry her memory with them always.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Guardian Funeral Home from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Guardian Funeral Home, with the procession to depart at 10:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Saint Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church at 321 SPID/Kostoryz.
