CORPUS CHRISTI – ANGELITA BARRAZA passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023, age, 77, surrounded by her family.

Angelita was the eighth of eleven children, born on August 25, 1945, to Angel and Juanita Duque.

She is preceded by her husband of 40 yrs, Johnny Barraza (2022); her parents Angel (1982) and Juanita (2009), two sisters and five brothers.

Angelita worked as a Teacher's Aid, Crossing Guard and Cafeteria Assistant for CCISD and Calallen ISD for over 25 years. She spent her retirement years caring for her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. There wasn't a game, a recital, or an award assembly that she would miss. Angelita loved being surrounded by family and friends, laughing and playing games. Never passing up the opportunity to travel and create memories with her loved ones, she cruised the waters to Cancun, Cozumel, Belize, Jamaica, Honduras, the Yucatan, the Bahamas, and the Cayman Islands.

On July 17, Angelita ventured to Seattle, Washington and Canada where she sailed her final cruise on July 20, 2023, to take in the sights of Alaska's beautiful glaciers. Angelita's enormous heart to care for others is immeasurable. She was a beautiful person who went out of her way to make life beautiful for everyone she met. She will be wholeheartedly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Angelita is survived by five children, Roxanne (Alonzo) Garcia, Pamela (Dylan) Carlson, Rene (Debbie) Garza, John (Laura) Barraza, Lonnie (Clarissa) Barraza, eight grandchildren, Rene Garza Jr, Nina Carrillo, Stephen Blake Luis, Jaden Brice Barraza, Caleb Daniel Garcia, Jonbrenon Kline Barraza, Celine Danielle Martinez and Lonnie Alejandro Barraza Jr, five great-grandchildren, Elijah Carrillo, Sophia Hope Garza, Ezekiel Rene Garza, Carmella Sky Garza, and Ezra Zayne Garza, three sisters, Lydia Guerra and Alicia Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, and Delia Villarreal of El Paso Tx, and numerous nieces and nephews.

All Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 ; public visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Guardian Funeral Home, Chapel A; the funeral procession will depart at 11:45 a.m. to Most Precious Blood Catholic Church for a 12:00 p.m. Holy Rosary and 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass.
Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
