Andres (Chino) Ramirez 92 years old, passed away Thursday morning, August 14, 2014 at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas surrounded by loved ones. His selfless love for people afforded him a life of abundant joy through travels and gatherings celebrating with friends and family for every occasion. Chino lived life to the fullest ensuring that every second of every minute was an opportunity to enjoy people, nature, and life through travels as he and his wife Melva traveled the country. He never let a moment slip by.
Chino Ramirez was born on January, 15, 1922 in Alice, Texas and is survived by his wife of 72 years Melva Perales Ramirez, and by his children Maria (Maggie) Ramirez-Rodriguez (Angel Rodriguez), Gilbert Andres Ramirez (Cristina Ramirez), Rebecca Rae Ramirez-Torres (Tony Torres), Jonathan Torres (Tina Torres), Kristen Torres, and Justin Torres, brothers, Chiquetin Ramirez and Moses Ramirez, Son-in-law, Noel R. Galvan. He is met in heaven by his parents, Petra Flores Ramirez and Andres Ramirez, eldest daughter Irma Yolanda Ramirez-Galvan (September 6, 1945-July 6, 2014) and his eldest son, Ramiro (Goofy) P. Ramirez (March 4,1948-August 17, 1996), siblings, Pepe Gonzalez, Beto Gonzalez, Meme Ramirez, Hortencia Herrera, Rebecca Reyes, Esperanza Jimenez, and nephew Hector Herrera
Chino is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as numerous family friends who called him grandpa.
Chino and Melva lived as one for 72 years, living true to their vows to stand by each other in sickness and in health, through the good times and the bad times throughout their life on earth.
Chino spent his career protecting and serving our country. He was a World War II veteran and the longest living member of the first SeaBee (CB-Construction Battalion) Naval Battalion 104-4th Special battalion that served in Guadal Canal. Following the War, Chino remained an active member of the Naval reserves for 34 years and worked as a civil servant employee for the Corpus Christi Army Depot for 40 years.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday August 18, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St. Corpus Christi, Texas, 78416 at 10:00am
