Alma was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. Alma had a profound impact on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Alma is survived and missed by her loving  husband of 40 years, Elmo, her sons Eduardo, Gustavo, Gabriel and Wife Hannah, and Grandson Ezra; Brothers Efrain and Wife Dora Diaz, Javier and Wife Elvia Diaz, and Abel and Wife Maria Diaz. Alma also leaves behind many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her parents Efrain and Benilde Diaz.

Alma was born in La Grulla, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley in December of 1958. Alma was a Migratory Farm Worker along with her parents and siblings and began working the fields at a very young age, but did not receive a wage until age 12. She worked in over 7 states in the Mid-West and Pacific West, and her native South Texas during the winter. Alma would graduate from Rio Grande City High School in 1977 where she would meet her husband Elmo B. Gomez. Alma would continue her education at Pan American University now known as University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley and Graduate with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. She would serve as a Police Officer for the McAllen Police Department before transitioning to social work for the Texas Department of Family and Child Protective Services. Alma would also work at the YWCA directing the YW Teens Program.

Alma loved to bake, cook, do crafts, garden, travel, and sew. She loved to spend time with her family and friends for holidays and any occasion, especially when it included chocolate! Above everything, Alma's biggest joy in life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Alma was devoted to her faith and found strength and peace in Christ. Although Alma's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. As you continue to worship Jesus up there, dear Alma, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
