Obituary

Alfred Wiley was born on September 3, 1942, in St. Francis County, Arkansas to Thurman and Emma (Jones) Wiley. He was one of 13 children. On May 30, 2024, he completed his time on this earth and was ushered into the glorious afterlife.

Driven by the promise of better job opportunities, he moved to Corpus Christi, TX, where he met and married Frances Smith from Robstown, TX.

Alfred went on to work on offshore drilling rigs for 27 years. He gained widespread recognition and admiration for his exceptional barbecue skills and mouthwatering briskets, and he enjoyed fishing. Alfred was a dedicated and committed member of the Rising Star Baptist Church, actively involved in various church activities and events. He wholeheartedly served as an usher, warmly welcoming and assisting fellow members during worship services and special gatherings. Alfred's presence and contributions to the church community were cherished and valued by all who knew him.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Odessa, Raymond, and Wilbert, and by his sisters, Elizabeth, Ethel, Artavia, Aretha, Dorothy, and Lovie.

He is survived by children and grandchildren who reside in Florida, Maryland, and Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family viewing will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Guardian funeral home chapel from 10:00 a.m. til 12:00 noon. Followed by a Memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Rising Star Baptist Church on Holly Rd.
