Alfonso Garcia, Jr, 82, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born in Hebbronville, TX. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Anchorage, AK from 1948-1952. Poncho began his career in 1953 and retired as a Scheme Training Tech after 35 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He met the love of his life, Ramona Rodriguez, and married her on June 6, 1954. It was love at first sight. They were married for 58 years.

Some of his joys in life were the postal softball team, golf, & hunting on his ranch 'El 96'. He loved his family and extended family dearly and never met a stranger. He was there for anyone that needed a helping hand. He enjoyed playing pokeno, cards, singing mariachi songs and discussing family genealogy. He was known for his honor and integrity and his tremendous sense of humor. He was a joker until the end. He was a member of Christ the King Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Alfonso Sr. and Matilde Garcia. His wife: Ramona. His brothers: Jose (Ofelia) Garcia, Jesus (Gloria) Garcia, Ruben (Lynn) Garcia, his sisters: Eva (Jose) G. Garza and Eulalia 'Lala' G. Mountain.

He is survived by his children: Alfonso III (Diana), Anna Belle (Robert) G. Gibson, Cynthia (Gilberto) G. Lewis, Oscar Garcia and Debra Ramona Garcia.,his brother-in-law, Lester Mountain, 17 grandchildren, 16 ' great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ermilo Garcia, Erik Guerra, Samuel G Lewis, Gilbert A. Lewis, Jacob Garcia, and Erik Garcia.

The Rosary will be on Tuesday, Jan 21 at 7:00 pm and the funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan 22 at 10:00am at Guardian Funeral Home,5922 Crosstown Access Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78417, (361) 853-0155. Burial will conclude at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2731 Comanche St, Corpus Christi, TX, (361) 882-5497
