Alfonso Valent Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family as Jesus lifted him into Heaven in the palm of His hands.

He was born on July 27, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Alfonso and Aurora Valent, Alfonso lived a life defined by faith, family, honor, and selfless service. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for over 21 years, retiring from Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California. His Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) was 2591 Communications Chief. Among his many distinguished assignments, he served aboard the USS Guam (LPH-9) while deployed off the coast of Barcelona, Spain.

He was a loving father, cherished grandfather, loyal brother, and faithful friend. His strength, wisdom, unwavering integrity, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Alfonso and Aurora Valent.

He is survived by his daughters: Olga Valent, Erica Valent (Paul), Corien Valent, Leslie Valent, and Ashley Rosenthal (Jack); his siblings: Ruby Valent, Rose Mary Escamilla (George), Mary Alice Valent (Santos Carrasco), Sandra Rodriguez (Danny), Rudy Valent, and Albert Valent; and his eleven cherished grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. The Valent family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of their family members, relatives, and friends for the love, prayers, kindness, and support shown during this difficult time.

Alfonso's legacy of courage, honor, and devotion to God, his country, and his family will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Alfonso's life at Guardian Funeral Home 5922 Crosstown Corpus Christi, Texas, 78417 on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Public visitation begins at 4:00pm, with a Holy Rosary at 6:30pm. A Funeral Mass will celebrated on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 12:00pm at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3502 Saratoga Blvd. Corpus Christi, Texas. Burial will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
