Obituary

Alberto "Beto" Lichtenberger, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on January 12, 2026. He was born on January 19, 1943, in San Diego, Texas, to Dora and Reynaldo Lichtenberger.

Beto was a devoted family man and a loyal friend. Though quiet by nature, he showed his love through his dependability, strong work ethic, and steady presence. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to his plants and vegetable garden.  He will be remembered for his integrity, service, and the simple, honest life he lived.

Beto was a graduate of Freer High School, where he participated in football and basketball. He served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army and later continued his service for more than ten years with the Coast Guard Reserves.
He made his home in Corpus Christi, where he was employed for over 50 years at the Corpus Christi Army Depot. Known for his dedication, technical skill, and attention to detail, Beto earned numerous awards throughout his career and was well respected by his colleagues.
Beto was preceded in death by his parents Reynaldo Lichtenberger, Sr. and Dora Lozano Lichtenberger, his brother Reynaldo Lichtenberger, Jr and mother in law Ruby Murphy.

Beto is survived by his wife, Nancy Lichtenberger. Sons: Alberto, Jr. (Claudia) Lichtenberger, Scott (Yvette) Lichtenberger and Charlie (Danielle) Lichtenberger. Stepson Mat (Emie) Pace. Sisters, Edna De Los Santos (Ladislado), Norma Chapa(Ponciano ) and sister in law Norma Lichtenberger. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Victoria, Andrew, Cara, Ava, Aaron, Myah and Charlee Grace Lichtenberger.

Public visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January  28, 2026 at Guardian funeral home with a Holy rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 3513 Cimarron Blvd. Interment will follow with full military honors at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I.H. 37 North Access Rd. at 1:00 p.m.
Pallbearers are Andrew Lichtenberger, Aaron Lichtenberger, Oliver Cantu, Robert Adami, Randall Lichtenberger and Ryan Lichtenberger.
