Agnes M. Agnew passed away on December 3, 2017, in a Corpus Christi nursing home at the age of 105. She was born in Elmore, Ohio, March 19, 1912, to the late Elmer and Emma Damschroder and resided in Benavides, Texas for 41 years. She graduated from Elmore High School in 1930 and from Flower Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio in 1933. Agnes was a retired registered nurse and a vibrant, vital member of her loving family.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Freer, Texas, Freer Study Club and the Red Hat Society. Agnes was an avid painter, reader, knitter of lovely throws and Christmas stockings and an enthusiastic fisherwoman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Dr. James W. Agnew, 2 sisters, Beatrice Hostetter and Clista Avers, 2 brothers, Bliss Damschroder and Norman Damschroder, a stepson, James R. Agnew and a stepdaughter, Joan Goodman.
She is survived by one son, Don Thomas Dieterle of Toledo, Ohio, a stepdaughter, Ann (Rudy) Casas of Benavides, Texas, a stepdaughter-in-law, Sandra Agnew of Cattaraugus, New York, a sister, Emma Pfleger of Toledo, Ohio, two nephews, Jim and John Pfleger of Toledo, Ohio, ten grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter as well as numerous niece and nephews.
A private celebration of her life will be held at her graveside in Gibsonburg, Ohio at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Guardian Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas.
