Adela Torres Vela, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at her residence in Corpus Christ, Tx. She was born on January 13, 1934, in Kingsville, Texas to Juan Torres and Jesusa Negrete.
Adela was preceded in death by her husband Jose P. Vela and son Joe T. Vela. Surviving children: Dina Cruz, Helen Nesmith (Oscar), Norma Salinas (Joe), Enedelia Sanchez (Jaime), Johnny Vela, Ruben Vela, nine grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren.
Adela was a beacon of faith, her devotion to her Catholic beliefs evident in every aspect of her life. Her unwavering commitment to prayer was evident, as her heart overflowed with prayers for the well-being of all. Adela devoted many years of service to Ethan Allen Furniture, finding joy and fulfillment in her work throughout many dedicated years. Eventually, she chose to retire, embracing the opportunity to devote more time to her cherished family and loved ones. She was a dedicated supporter of the Caroll High School Tigers, infusing a sense of fun and enthusiasm into her unwavering support for the team. Adela lived life to the fullest, embodying health and vitality. She was a true celebrant of life, infusing joy into every occasion with her infectious spirit and love for dance. Her presence at family gatherings and birthdays brought warmth and laughter to all. Above all, Adela's greatest legacy lies in the love and support she showered upon her children, nurturing their talents and guiding them with unwavering affection. Though she may no longer dance among us, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
