Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce our beloved, Adela Jimenez Soto, peacefully passed away in her home, surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the age of 80.

She was the ninth child born to Antonio and Tomasita Arredondo Jimenez on March 13, 1945, in the small town of Sarita, Texas.

Adela truly was the heart and soul of our small family. Not one day went by when she didn't show us love, patience, and compassion. She truly filled our lives with so many beautiful moments of love, laughter, and happiness.

Adela was always known for the generosity, love and kindness that she showed to everyone in her life. She was an amazing wife, loving mother, supportive sister and a beautiful friend. Anyone who knew her knew she loved a great party. She loved to fill her home with family, friends, great food, beautiful mariachi music and even a crazy comedian at times. She had a love for sewing, a love and dedication that often had her sewing into late nights, to make sure everything was perfect. She was also in love with the game of baseball. She worked so hard to never miss a game when her grandson was playing and to make sure Joe would race home so she wouldn't miss any of the Little League Championship games on TV. Adela also dedicated so many years of service to our community, by serving as an Election judge for Nueces County. She taught us so many lessons, but above all, she taught us how to love and cherish the people in our lives. Reminding us how precious every moment is and how tomorrow is never promised. We will miss her terribly, beyond words can describe, but we will forever be grateful for all the amazing love she gave to us for so many years.

She will be reunited with her beloved parents, three sisters: Julia (Erasmo) Munoz, Maria Luisa (Narasio) Garcia, Tomasita (Manuel) Garcia and two brothers; Antonio (Mingo) Jimenez, Juan (Irene) Jimenez in The kingdom of Heaven beside our savior Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.

Adela is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jose Soto. Her three sons, Joe (Michele), Fernando (Celia), and Alex; her two grandsons, Drew and Brandon; and only great-grandson Andrew, as well as her three older brothers, Rafael (Eloisa) Jimenez, Norberto (Esmer) Jimenez, and Dario (Lydia) Jimenez. She also happily took on the roll as loving grandmother to so many children who came into her life. She immediately became their grandma and she loved them so deeply. She was also a loving Tia to so many nieces and nephews, who will miss her greatly. Though not named here, they all will carry her love in their hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15th at Guardian Funeral Home from 4-8pm with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 16th at SS Cyril Methodius Catholic Church at 11:30am and the Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 1pm.
