Adela A. Salazar passed on from here to eternity on July  27, 2026 at the age of 81. Adela, also known as “Adelita,” was born on August 22, 1944, in Corpus Christi, TX. She met the love of her life in May of 1966 while working at Howard’s BBQ downtown. They married on September 1, 1967, had two children, and 30 wonderful years together before he went home to Jesus. She was a great example of a loving wife, an amazing mom, a wonderful grandma, a great sister, aunt, and friend. She gave selflessly to those around her and always with a smile on her face. Her faith ran deep as well as her love for others.

 Her greatest joy was her family and especially her three grandchildren. Adelita was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger P. Salazar, her parents Natalio Alvarez & Elvira P. Alvarez, her siblings Rita P. Garcia, Jesse Alvarez, Leonardo Alvarez, and Manuel Alvarez Sr., and a stepdaughter Linda Haggard. She is survived by her children Javier J. Salazar, Adora (Mike) Castro, her grandchildren Alexa (Stephen) Johnston, Cynthia (William) Jonker, and Jonathan Castro, one brother Eginio (Mary) Alvarez, her stepchildren Maria Rosario Salazar, Amanda Salazar, Mary Maldonado, and Roger (Kristen) Nutter, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.

 Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Guardian Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2026, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
