Abel G. Parras Sr., was called home to Paradise to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 23, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born in Encinal, Texas on December 10, 1926 to Arnulfo and Mercedes Parras. Abel is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife and all who preceded him. Abel was an exemplary father, grandfather, and friend. He served his country with honor during World War II in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Sylvania and the U.S.S. Destiny. He retired after 13 years of service with C.C.I.S.D. as a truck driver. After retirement Abel spent his days with his many friends at Broadmore Senior Center where he was a member for over 15 years, playing bingo at C.C. Bingo and volunteering with the retired and service volunteer program. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Nurses on Wheels, Harbor View, Pallitive Care at Shoreline for the beautiful out pouring of love, compassion and care they provided. Burial services will be held at Rose Hill cemetery on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 12:00 noon. The reception will be held at Broadmore Senior center immediately following at 1:00 p.m.
